S.I.V. Course - Paragliding Flight Accident Simulation

Learn to handle unforeseen and critical set-ups: Paragliding with awareness and control

The S.I.V. (Simulated Flight Inconvenience) course is one of the most important steps for every Paraglider pilot. It is not an aerobatic course, but an essential training course to know one's own limits and those of one's Paraglider, learning how to handle critical situations and unusual attitudes with lucidity.

Organized by the Flylibell Paragliding School on Lake Como, the course is divided into three levels (basic, intermediate, and advanced) and structured to suit the abilities and goals of each individual pilot.

Who is the Paragliding Flight Inconvenience Simulation course for?

The S.I.V. course is suitable for all licensed pilots, from the newly licensed to those who have been flying for years and want to strengthen their safety, reaction skills and technique.

Each level has precise requirements and a specific program of maneuvers, with the possibility of advancement to the next level only after practical evaluation by the instructor.

S.I.V. COURSE I – BASIC LEVEL

Requirements: VDS/VL License
Ideal for: Newly licensed pilots and pilots with little experience

Expected Paragliding Maneuvers

Rapid descent techniques

Ears with accelerator
Big ears
Initiation to controlled spiral

Sensitivity and piloting

Light pitch on the pendulum
Roll reversals
Low-speed piloting

Unusual attitudes

Controlled and uncontrolled asymmetric collapses (non-accelerated)
Frontal collapse (non-accelerated)

Safety

Emergency parachute deployment (strongly recommended)

S.I.V. COURSE II – INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

Requirements:  VDS/VL License for at least 1 year and/or 50 flights
Ideal for: Active pilots who wish to improve safety and technique

Expected Paragliding Maneuvers

Rapid descent techniques

B-stall
Controlled spiral

Sensitivity and piloting

Wide pitch
Wing over up to 90°
Approaching symmetric and asymmetric stalls

Unusual attitudes

Controlled and uncontrolled asymmetric collapses
Frontal collapse

Safety

Parachute deployment (recommended)

S.I.V. COURSE III – ADVANCED LEVEL

Requirements:  VDS/VL License for at least 2 years and 100 flights
Ideal for: Experienced pilots or future acro pilots

During the first flight, the pilot's real capabilities will be assessed. Only if deemed suitable will the registration for the advanced course be confirmed. Otherwise, participation in the basic SIV course will be proposed.

Expected Paragliding Maneuvers

Rapid descent techniques

Controlled deep spiral

Sensitivity and piloting

Wing over over 90°
Initiation to symmetric and asymmetric stalls

Unusual attitudes

Accelerated asymmetric collapses
Held stalls (symmetric and asymmetric)
Post-stall and negative flat spin

Safety

Parachute deployment (recommended in every session)
