Flying is a universal dream. With the “Flying Differently”project, Flylibell is committed to making it possible also for people with motor or sensory disabilities.
and the experience of our team, anyone can experience the thrill of a real Paragliding flight over Lake Como.
But we don't stop there: our goal is to go beyond just flying. With a structured educational proposal, we want to enable people with disabilities to obtain the VDS/VL pilot certificate and become, if they wish, autonomous in flying.
How does Paragliding Wheelchair Flight work?
Ideal for those who wish to fly for the first time despite motor limitations. Also for people with sensory or degenerative disabilities.

Practical activities take place on Alpe Giumello, in Valsassina, one of the most renowned flying sites for paragliding training and scenic tandem flights. Directly overlooking Lake Como, this extraordinary natural setting offers favorable weather conditions, open spaces and impeccable logistics, ideal for safe and peaceful flying throughout the year. The takeoff area is also large, accessible and perfectly suited to all logistical needs.
Teaching activity: learning to fly independently
Flylibell offers more than just sightseeing flights: we are licensed instructors and offer customized training paths to enable people with disabilities to earn the nationally recognized VDS/VL Recreational Sport Flying Certificate.
Our dedicated training for people with disabilities includes:
- Individual assessment of motor possibilities
- Gradual pathways and total shadowing
- Tandem flight with progressive transfer of control
- Theoretical and practical examinations according to current regulations
The legal framework: flying is a right
The possibility of instructing people with disabilities to fly is not only ethically right, it is also explicitly authorized by law.
“Article 8 of the Regulations issued by the Ae.C.I., approved by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation by Ministerial Decree of April 15, 2011, expressly authorizes the teaching of VDS/VL to people with disabilities. ”
This means that anyone, even those with disabilities, has the right to learn to fly and become a pilot.
